Limited Brands, Inc., is honored to again receive the Partner of the Year award in the Very Large Business category from the U.S. EPA
WasteWise program for the second year in a row.
WasteWise, launched in 1994 and has more than 1,700 members in more than 54 industry sectors.
WasteWise partners have reported more than 120 million tons of waste reduced and made significant achievements reducing their impact on global climate change. Limited Brands has been a partner in the program since 2005, and has been recognized by the program each year. The company receives favorable mention in the 2008 EPA annual report, which states: "Limited Brands, Inc. is passionate about being a responsible member of the global community, and in 2007, it diverted more than 83 percent of all waste materials processed through its Columbus, OH, distribution centers from landfills, recycling 65 percent and reusing almost 19 percent. The company’s distribution centers created or expanded partnerships with nonprofits and donated 10 tons of materials. The company also increased its use of recycled-content paper and Forest Stewardship Council-certified paper in its catalogs, marketing materials, and annual reports. In addition, Limited Brands reduced the number of printed copies of its annual reports, delivering most electronically. In 2007, the company’s recycling and reuse efforts prevented more than 15,200 tons from going to landfills. This not only avoided more than $1.7 million in landfill disposal costs but increased overall revenue by $12.3 million from increased recycling efforts."
